Traits
Hairless (Seasonal)
Hairless Xeros are very rare. Their fur is very useful for regulating their temperature and protecting them from their environment, so its not common at all to see them with fur missing. The hairless trait can manifest in different ways; from just a hairless tail or belly, to only hair on the top of the head, to even completely bald! The color of skin where their fur is missing must be the same as the other visible flesh on their ears, tongue, and paw pads, but it can vary in different shades.
Fur Pads (Seasonal)
The fur pads trait gives a Xero extra fluffy feet that covers their paw pads, like a rabbit or fennec fox! This adaptation can help protect their paws against extremely hot or cold conditions.
Horizontal Pupils (Seasonal)
Though it's very rare, some Xeros may have horizontal pupils instead of the standard round or oval ones. This strange adaptation gives the Xero a wider field of view, making them very hard to sneak up on.
Frilled Ears (Seasonal)
Frilled Ears are a rare mutation observed on Xeros. They have a grooved outer edge, giving them a jagged or wing-like appearance.
Saber Fangs (Seasonal)
Saber fangs are a very rare mutation to see on a Xero. These long canines protrude much further from the Xero's mouth than is normal for their species. This can give them a rather intimidating appearance!
Slimy Skin (Seasonal)
It is very rare to see a Xero with slimy skin. Xeros with this trait have extra slimy skin, coated with protective mucus. The slime only affects areas of visible skin, such as their inner ears, paw pads, and tongue. This trait could be combined with the Hairless trait to have slimy skin on other areas of the body.
Colored Teeth (Seasonal)
Braving the acidic Sugar Drop allows a Xero to stain their teeth any color they desire! The enamel-stained color can also be as subtle or vivid as the Xero wants. Curiously, the Sugar Drop dyes every tooth in the consumer's mouth. This means that the Xero must commit to the same color on each of their teeth and may not mismatch colors. Go all in!
How To Use This Trait
Do
-
Every tooth must be the same color.
-
The teeth can be any color and as bright or dull as wanted.
-
Having metallic "fillings" for the fangs is allowed without the use of this trait, as long as they are realistic gold or silver colors.
-
Off-white/Slight yellowing of the teeth is allowed without the use of this trait.
Don't
-
Mismatched teeth aren't allowed. For example, having all green teeth and one black fang.
-
All teeth must be colored, meaning that you cannot have blue fangs only, for example.
This trait can only be added by consuming a Sugar Drop!

Fluffy Antennae (Seasonal)
Antennae of various types are the most common trait displayed by Xeros. While fluffy antennae are less temperature-sensitive than their more sparsely-furred cousins, they still enhance a xero's proprioception, providing valuable sensory information in relation to the world around them. Since they are less chemically-sensitive than their counterpart traits, many xeros choose to style the fur into fashionable shapes with clever trims and salon products!
They can vary extensively in length, with fur only rarely exceeding a xero's palmpad in length, and can be present on the head, back, tail, or along the line of the jaws as "whiskers".
How To Use This Trait
Do
- Style the fur to match existing traits, provided the xero already has the trait in question, ie. extra long fur with the application of Tundra Fur.
- Put on Xero's face along the jaws, like eastern dragon whiskers or prehensile moustaches.
- Combine Fluffy Antennae and Antennae in different sections of the Xero's design.

Don't
- Have the base of the antenna come to a single point/line, so as to imitate a feather's quill.
- Place in dense clusters, so as to imitate wings or feather crests
- Imitate jointed insectile antennae.
- Imitate detailed, extremely finely branching shapes like those of realistic moths.
- Have exceptionally long, curly, or locked fur without the application of corresponding traits!

This trait can be added to your Xero by giving them a Nettaru Berry.
